For the testing of wire ropes for cranes and other hoisting equipment the wire tester (see picture below) has a special task. Under the right tension of the final use of the rope the testing machine moves the rope back and forth through the sheaves. Like this it is easy to measure the fatigue and even the breaking moment of the material.
