In 1994 Huisman-Itrec designed and built 2 x 8200 transporters for Strait Crossing Joint Venture, Canada for the Northumberland Strait Crossing project. |
|
|
The sledges are designed to lift, transport and place large loads with great accuracy. In the centre of the sledge is a vertical jack located to lift the sledge unit and which enables the sledge to rotate clockwise and counter clockwise. Furthermore four cylinders are installed in the sledge. The control system of the cylinders ensures a speed of max. 200 m/h. |

The European Storebaelt Group contracted Huisman-Itrec in 1990
to engineer and manufacture all skidding, pushing
and jacking systems which are needed to handle the concrete
bridge elements weighing up to 6500t on the Nyborg construction
site in Denmark. |
|
| All drive movements of the sledge and push units (see picture) are executed fully automatically. The sledge units are equipped with an automatic movement control system to achieve safety and accuracy. | |
